Coverage & Photography Style

Candid photography means documenting your wedding as it actually happens — unposed, unscripted, emotionally authentic. We stay in the background, observing and capturing moments as they unfold. This is our primary style at Calcutta Wedding Photography.

Yes. While candid documentary is our primary mode, we absolutely photograph formal family groups and traditional posed portraits when required. A good wedding photographer knows when to switch between the two.

Sourav Deb photographs every wedding personally. Depending on your package, a second shooter may be included or can be added.

We shoot on professional full-frame DSLR and mirrorless camera systems with a range of prime lenses. We carry professional off-camera flash for indoor and low-light situations.

Pre-Wedding Photoshoot

A dedicated photography session before the wedding day — typically at a meaningful or scenic Kolkata location. The goal is to give you a relaxed, non-pressured photographic experience and a beautiful set of couple portraits.

Popular locations include Victoria Memorial, Princep Ghat, Eco Park, Raj Bari estates in North Kolkata, the Maidan, and Rabindra Sarobar. We also travel to Shantiniketan, Darjeeling, and other locations outside Kolkata.

Typically 2–4 hours. Golden hour — the hour before sunset — is the most popular time for its soft, flattering light.

We advise all couples during the consultation. Generally, outfits that photograph well and feel comfortable work best. We recommend 1–2 outfit changes for a 3-hour session.

Practical Questions

If the date is available on our calendar, yes. Contact us as early as possible to check.

We carry backup camera bodies, lenses, and flash equipment to every wedding. In 15 years, we have never missed a wedding or delivered incomplete coverage.

We have a network of trusted Kolkata photographers we can call on in an emergency. This has never been required, but the contingency exists.
